JAMMU, July 31: Ranjeet Kalra, who serves as the Member on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and happens to be Vice Chairman, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu, has been appointed Advisor to the Lakshadweep Government for matters pertaining to the development of sports.
The decision in this regard was taken in view of the fact that despite possessing well built athletes and great sports enthusiasts, Lakshadweep lags behind in the field of sports and is yet to create a niche on the National Sports Scene.
“In order to overcome the shortcomings in this vital field of activity, being given high importance by the Government of India, guidance from an established Sports Administrator is the need of the day. In this regard it has been decided to appoint Ranjeet Kalra as an Advisor to UT Administration for matters pertaining to sports development,” read the Order issued by Farooq Khan, Administrator Lakshadweep.
