JAMMU, Sept 22: Member, J&K Sports Council and Member of the Governing Council (Sports) Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ranjeet Kalra today called on Union Minister for Sports, Information and Broadcastings Anurag Thakur at New Delhi.
Kalra shared with the Union Minister about new initiatives being taken in the field of sports in J&K under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha who is also the President of J&K Sports Council. Kalra also apprised the Minister about the recent historic decision of LG administration regarding the creation of J&K Sports Cadre positions including 10 in gazetted scale in DYSS for outstanding sportspersons.
Ranjeet Kalra also informed the Minister about the projects that are being undertaken for developing new sports infrastructure by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the success stories of the athletes, especially the para-athletes that are being nurtured at the Katra Sports Complex. Kalra also extended gratitude to Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur for his wholehearted support to the various sporting initiatives being undertaken in J& K especially the Khelo India Centres.
