GURGAON, Dec 13: Kanaihya slammed a brilliant century but could not save Jammu and Kashmir from defeat as Haryana registered a 9-wicket victory in the Vijay Merchant U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament, organized by Haryana Cricket Association, under the aegis of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at Teri ground, here.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 8/3, J&K managed to score 259 runs in 107.4 overs, to set a target of 51 runs for Haryana. Kanaihya scored magnificent 108 runs off 239 balls, while Owais Rashid scored 45 off 123 balls. Raghav Sharma and Mujtaba Yousuf were the other two contributors with 28 and 27 runs to the total respectively. For Haryana, Anshul Kamboj took 5 wickets, while Bhuvan Rohilla bagged 4 wickets. AN Verma also claimed one wicket.
In reply, Haryana chased the target of 51 in their second essay in 18.1 overs, scoring 54 runs. Sagar Dahiya scored unbeaten 26 runs, while Mayank Dahiya contributed unbeaten 14 runs. Vivek Yadav was the only batsman dismissed at his individual score of 5 runs. He was dismissed by Sampark Gupta.
