Kanchan, Jatoon, Pari shine in Zonal Level Athletic Meet

HIRANAGAR, Aug 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua organised the Inter School Zone level Athletic Meet for girls all age groups, under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj and supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranaga, Yog Raj Sharma at Sports Stadium, here today.
A total of 71 players of Hiranagar zone participated in today’s events.
Today’s events were officiated by Avnesh Kumar, Amarjeet Kaur, Manmohan Singh, Omkar Singh, Naresh Kumar, Darshan Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Narinder Kumar.
In 100 Mtrs sprint, Kanchan Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar, Deepika of Government Higher Secondary School Chakra, Pari begum of Government Model Middle School Hiranagar stand first in under 19, 17 and 14 years age groups respectively.
In 200 mtrs race, Begum of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah, Surekha Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Chakra, Amna Begum of Government Model Middle School Hiranagar stastood first in their respective groups.
In 400 metres race, Kanchan Sharma Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar, Salima of Government Girls High School Marheen, Pari Begum of Government Model Middle School Hiranagar emerged winners.
In 600 metres race,Vishali Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah and Mansi Devi of Government Middle School Pansar stand first in under 19 and under 14 years age groups respectively.
In 1500 metres race, Dishu Sharma of Government HSS Hiranagar claimed first position in under-19 years’ age group.
In Long Jump, Kanchan Sharma Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar, Rama Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Chakra and Jatoon Bibi of Government Middle School Kattal Brahmana claimed first position in under-19, under-17 and under-14 years age groups respectively.
In High Jump, Mithali Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah, Nandini Verma of Government Girls High School Marheen and Pari Begum of Government Model Middle School Hiranagar claimed first place.
In Discuss Throw, Rimpy Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah, Tamanna of Government Girls High School Marheen, Jatoon Bibi of Government Middle School Kattal Brahmana stood first.
In Shot Put, Rimpi Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah, Rama Devi of Government Higher Secondary School Chakra, Jatoon Bibi of Government Middle School Kattal Brahmana stood first.
Finally, Kanchan Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar was declared as the best athlete of Zone in under 19 years age group, while in under 14 years, Pari Begum of Government Model Middle School Hiranagar and Jatoon Bibi of Government Middle School Kattal Brahmana were declared as the best athletes.
Meanwhile, in Inter-School Zonal Level Tournament for boys Under-19 years in the sports discipline of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Wrestling for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu got underway at Guru Harkrishan Public School Nanak Nagar, today.
In all, 150 boys drawn from Gandhi Nagar & Satwari Zone are taking part in the competitions.
The competitions were organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Madan Lal, Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour District Youth Services & Sports Jammu.
Anju Gupta and Poonam Kotwal, ZPEOs are the organising secretaries of the tournament.
The main objective of the competitions was to select the teams of Jammu District for the next level of competitions.
In Kabaddi U-19 boys semifinals, Govt. HSS Mandal defeated Govt HSS Gandhi Nagar by 20-17, while Shiksha Niketan beat Govt. HSS Channi Himat by 18-15
In Vollleyball Under-19 boys 1st semifinal, Govt. HSS Sunjwan drubbed Govt HSS Surinsar by 2-0 sets, while in 2nd semifinal, Shiksha Niketan trounced Govt HSS Gandhi Nagar by 2-0 sets.
The matches were officiated by Hardev Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Puspinder, Amit Kumar, Gourav Sharma, Harpreet Bhalla and Rajiv Kumar.
