Kanwal Tigers drubs TCI Cheetahs in JKCPL

JAMMU, Sept 2: Sailing on good performances by Parvez Rasool, Akib Mir and Aqib Nazir, Kanwal Tigers defeated formidable side of TCI Cheetahs by 27 runs in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Higher Secondary School Ground, Bijbehara, today.
Batting first, Kanwal Tigers scored 145 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Parvez Rasool was the top scorer with brisk 48 runs, while Akib Mir and Ishtiaq contributed 35 and 23 runs to the total respectively. For TCI Cheetahs, Manik Gupta and Warris scalped 2 wickets each, while Umar Nazir, Majid Dar and Usman claimed one wicket each.
In reply, TCI Cheetahs, bundled-out for 117 runs in 18.4 overs, thus lost the match by 27 runs. Skipper Majid Dar was top scorer with 35 runs, while Umar Nazir contributed 32 runs to the total. Iqbal Shah and Hamid Nazir chipped in with 21 and 20 runs respectively. Manzoor Nath was the pick of the bowlers for Kanwal Tigers who took 4 important wickets, while Hanan scalped 3 wickets. Akib Nazir bagged 2 important wickets and also was superb in field to be adjudged HDFC man of the match, while Parvez Rasool was named for TCI maximum sixes award.
