Kanwal Tigers thrash Saifco Lions in low scoring affair

SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Sailing on superb performances by Abid Mushtaq, Amir Sofi and Ishtiaq Ahmad, Kanwal Tigers defeated Saifco Lions in a low scoring match to consolidate their position in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL), here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Saifco Lions bundled out for a paltry total of 67 runs in 17 overs. Waseem Shah was the top scorer with 28 runs, while Mahrajudin and Punit Bisht contributed 15 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For Kanwal Tigers, Abid Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding just 3 runs in his 3 overs, while Amir Sofi also took 3 wickets by giving away 15 runs in his 4 overs. Aqib Nazir, Irfan Ahmed and Mehjoor claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Kanwal Tigers chased the target easily in 8.1 overs without losing any wicket, thus won the match by 10 wickets. Ishtiaq Ahmad scored brilliant unbeaten 53 runs off 40 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes, while another opener Hanan Mir remained unbeaten on 8 runs. For Saifco Lions, none of the bowlers managed to claim any wicket. Abid Mushtaq was adjudged HDFC man of the match, while Ishtiaq got TCI maximum sixes award.
The match was officiated by Sanjay Singh and Amit Gupta as umpires, while Dheerendra Singh was the scorer.
