REASI, Jan 15: Wrestler Kapil Dhama, National Silver Medallist of Uttar Pradesh lifted the 120th Annual Panthal Kesari 2020″ title by defeating Wrestler Ammar of Iran in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 11 minutes at Panthal, here today.
Kapil Dhama was adjudged as the best Wrestler in the Vishal Dangal.
The Dangal was organized by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association on the eve of Makar Sankranti.
The winner of Ist malli bout Wrestler Kapil was given a cash prize of Rs 25,000 in addition to “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by SDM Katra, Ashok Kumar Chowdhary, SP Katra Naresh Singh, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sohan Singh Thakur, Vice Chairman Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association, while runner-up Wrestler Ammar got Rs 16,000 by SDPO Katra Vivek Sheikher, SHO Katra Pardeep Gupta and Naib Tehsildar Panthal Kamal Kishore.
Social worker Sohan Singh Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winners and runners-up Wrestler, while former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council presided over the function.
Sohan Singh contributed Rs 31,000 as financial assistance to the organizers.
Prominent persons who were present on the occasion were Virender Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Om Parkash Verma, Sat Paul Verma, Sarpanch Suresh Mengi Sarpanch (Rajinder Kumar Thappa, Satish Kumar and Lochan Singh.
53 bouts were played during the competition.
The 2nd main bout was won by Ajay Sharma of Udhampur who defeated Wrestler Rejja of Iran. Winner Ajay was cash awarded with Rs 10,000 while runners-up Wrestler Rejja got Rs 8,000.
One women bout was also conducted between Ansu of Delhi and Priyanka of Haryana. This bout was won by Ansu of Delhi.
