POONCH, Dec 6: Karan, Fazil, Bhanu and Karanveer thrashed their opponents in their respective matches and sailed into the next round of the Cadet Boys category, organised during 23rd District Poonch Table Tennis Championship, which gets underway at recreational hall of Government Degree College, here today.
In the cadet boys category, Karan beat Pratham by 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-9 and 11-7, whereas Fazil thrashed Anuz by 2-0 (13-11, 11-8), Bhanu defeated Sohail by 11-9 and 11-4, Karanveer beat Sorab by 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-9 and 11-2.
In Sub junior boys, Vishav Kapoor beat Karanveer by 11-5 and 11-8, Karan thrashed Pratham by 11-8 and 11-7, Bhanu defeated Paropkar by 11-9 and 11-9 and Anuj outclassed Rachit by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-5 and 11-6.
In Junior boys, Gurjot defeated Nishu by 11-6 and 11-7, Vishav Kapor thrashed Pratham by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 11-5 and 11-7.
The matches were officiated by Narinder Singh, PEM, Sandeep Luthra and Marshall.
The tournament is being organised by District Poonch Table Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association.
In the tournament, nearly 60 players in different age groups are participating.
