JAMMU, May 4: The selection trials for the upcoming karate KAI Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior and Under-21 National Karate Championship which is to be held from May 30, 2014 to June 1, 2014 at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi were held at Gandhi Bhawan, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Karate Association of India, affiliated to World Karate Federation (WKF).
About 100 karatekas from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the trials which were conducted under the supervision of Ambedkar Gupta, president AKAJK.
Amit Sangra, Suraj Prakash, Brijesh Bhau and Naresh Kumar were the observers of trials.
The karatekas selected to represent Jammu and Kashmir, under the banner of Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir included Master Aarminder in 8-9 years boys; Anjan Chopra in 10-11 years boys; Praval Sharma in12-13 years boys; Amir Kumar 14- 15 years -52 kg; Sourav Mehra in 14-15 years boys -63 kg; Smit Sharma in16-17 years -55 kg; Yuvraj Singh in 16-17 yrs -61 kg and Sahil Singh in 16-17 yrs +76 kg.
Ambedkar Gupta also announced that the trials for the girls category will be held on May 11, 2014 at Gandhi Bhawan between 9 am to 11 am.
