Karra files ‘Intervention’ petition in defence of Article 35-A

JAMMU, Aug 25: Senior Congress leader and former Parliamentarian Tariq Hameed Karra has been accepted as private respondent by the Supreme Court in the Article 35A case whose hearing was today deferred.
Karra had moved an application before Supreme Court to empanel him as a private respondent in the matter of Article 35A.
The petition of intervention was filed by Advocate Ashok Mathur in the Supreme Court short while ago. Karra wanted to defend the Article, hence submitted the petition as an intervention.
Pertinently Tariq Karra is the first Kashmiri politician and a former Minister who has gone to Supreme Court to defend the Article 35-A.
The Supreme Court today deferred the plea of hearing the case of Article 35A after the Diwali festival (which falls on October 19) while the State Government through its counsels pleaded for the same.
