JAMMU, Mar 31: Kashmir FC put up a spirited performance in their opening match of the league despite playing majority of the 2nd half with 10 men in the I-League Division 2nd in Delhi.
The team from Kashmir- Lone Star Football Club made a strong opening to the game, as their players displayed superb soccer skills and attacked the rivals from the word go.
For the first quarter of the game they enjoyed a majority share of attacks as well as possession. They missed quite a number of chances which could have put them ahead, however, a few lapse of concentration from the defenders resulted in own goal. Later, poor marking cost the team as Aizawal players took full advantage.
The team mustered up in the 2nd half and pulled one goal back through Christopher who was put on goal by a delightful ball by James. Kashmir FC tried hard but couldn’t convert the ample chances that came their way with Jagpreet going close with his attempted free kick crashing of the crossbar and on counter attack Aizawal enhanced their lead.
Kashmir FC team had to play majority of the 2nd half with 10 men as Christopher went off injured and the team had already made the three changes. The final score was 4-1 in favour of Aizawal FC.
Kashmir FC earned a lot of praise from the crowd and their attacking style of play has considered many to take them as serious contenders despite the outcome of the match.
