JAMMU, Apr 30: Kashmir FC staged a major upset by comprehensively beating Aizawal FC by two goals to nil in the round 11 of I-league Division 2nd at Deragoan in Assam.
The atmosphere was scintillating as the Stadium was jam packed to its full capacity, when the title contenders had to face a shocking defeat.
The match started with the players from both the teams displaying extraordinary soccer skills and the teams tried to overcome each other in the first half but the score remained on a deadlock.
The J&K based team came into the second half with a strong intent and took the unexpected lead when Ajay pelting a superb goal on splendid pass from Christopher.
Aizawal FC players then made every effort to score an equalizer but the strong defensive line up of Kashmir FC negotiated their attacks with ease to nullify their tactics.
Kashmir FC doubled their lead when Christopher made a brilliant turn and wrong footed a couple of defenders to shoot at the goal which was saved by the keeper but after the rebound Ajay slotted the ball into the back of the net. The final score ended 2-0 in favour of Kashmir FC.
During post match conference, Coach Hilal said “It was a well executed win as we had already gone into the match with a plan and the lads implemented that plan perfectly.”
Secretary of the Club, Majid Dar said despite all the odds were against us, the boys did a marvelous job to script a convincing victory.
Kashmir FC is now level on points with Aizawal FC but Aizawal still tops the league due to their goal difference. So, the last three matches will be quite vital in the race for qualification and one or two favourable results could very well see Kashmir FC qualifying.
Chairman KFC, Iftikhar A Lone, Executive Director, Nazir A Khan and president JKFA, Zameer A Thakur have lauded the effort of the players and the management for this win.
