Kashmiri scientist secures place in SU’s list

SRINAGAR, Sept 19: Dr Yonis Gulzar, a Kashmiri scientist has secured place among Stanford University’s world’s top 2 percent scientists list.
Dr Gulzar, hailing from Shahpora district Budgam in Kashmir, has earned a prestigious place for outstanding contributions to artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on its applications in healthcare and agriculture.
He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2018, where he was awarded the Best PhD Student from the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.
Since joining King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, in 2019, Dr. Yonis has been actively involved in research and has been consistently recognized for his work. Due to his exceptional contributions, he was honoured with the Research Excellence Award for the years 2022 and 2023-24.
“It is a moment of great pride for me and my homeland, Kashmir. This recognition motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of Al to make a positive difference in healthcare, agriculture and beyond,” he said.
