Kashmirink Foundation launches Climate Warrior Brigade

JAMMU, May 29: Kashmirink Foundation launched Climate change awareness with the students of St Mary’s Presentation Convent School here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhinandan Singh, member of the Foundation made the entire school understand the importance of understanding Climate Change and Global warming. The school took the Kashmirink Climate Warrior Pledge.
Babar Afza, Chairman of the foundation and Henna interacted with the Environment Club of the school which included Sister Slsie, Vice Principal, Manisha Sharma, Aditi Raina, Priya Lakshmi, Simranpreet Kour, Abhigya Langhe, Iruvantika Chaudhary and made them go through the 10 things which school children and kids can do to combat climate change by bringing in a lifestyle change.
Babar also emphasized in the discussion, that how Earth is the only planet in our solar system that supports life. He said if global warming occurs, not every day or every place will be warmer. But on average most places will be warmer and will cause changes in the amount and pattern of rain and snow, in the length of growing seasons, in the frequency and severity of storms, and in sea level. Farms, forests, and plants and animals in the natural environment, will all be affected, he maintained.
He explained to the students, how the water level of Jammu has gone down and how the river bed of Tawi is changing and how these are signs of the massive changes which are happening around in the environment and what each student should do in their schools, homes and communities to encourage people to become environment friendly. In the end the School Environment Club presented a theatre act to highlight the habits and attitude which needs to be changed to combat climate change.
