Kathashala conducts training programme in Jodhamal

JAMMU, Aug 24: The Internationally Renowned Author and Story Teller Simi Srivastava held a 4 day workshop recently in Jodhamal School, here.
This workshop was organized by Kathashala, especially for the teachers of Jodhamal School Public School.
Simi Srivastava has conducted workshops all over India & abroad.  Her work has been published in many languages in various countries.
Kathashala is Noida based initiative of Ms. Simmi and it is doing wonders with Jodhamal Teaching Methodology since this was her third visit to the school and Jodhamal is all set to take the Complete Module to hone up the teaching skills and the Effective Communication Skills of its teachers and students.
Jodhamal organised a four day session with renowned storyteller Simi Srivastava from August 19 to August 22, 2015. This was her third visit to the school. In the current session the teachers from grade pre nursery to grade 5 underwent an intensive training on the “Importance of Emotions in Reading & Every Day Communication”.
The interactive session also threw light upon the scope of storytelling and how it can be used for Classroom Reading Strategies to make Reading more engaging and interactive and “Teaching of Grammar through Stories”. The teachers were introduced to the steps involved in the process of storytelling.
Under Simi’s guidance the teachers learnt the technique of Making Paper Bag Puppets and its usage.
The first three days of the visit were in continuation to module I wherein class evaluations and feedback sessions were conducted. The teachers were given a real-time experience through live demo sessions by Simi for grades pre-nursery to grade 5. It was an eventful journey of learning and we look forward to many more insightful sessions with her in future.
She motivated the teachers to equip, enrich and enhance the spoken skills of the students by creating a congenial atmosphere. She highlighted different aspects of storytelling like voice collage, emotions, different steps of narrating the story etc. The students and the teachers actively participated and role played the task designed be her.
Kathashala works with all age groups. It is to sensitize people with the importance of storytelling.
