Kathua Blues scores 127 runs; Sehwag Academy 22/1 on Day-1

JAMMU, Jan 16: 1st Kuldip Sharma Memorial 2-Day Matches Cricket Tournament, being organized by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with Project Model School, Janipur got underway at Gharota Cricket ground, here today.
The inaugural match of this first of its kind Tournament in Jammu was played between Sehwag Cricket Academy and Kathua Blue Sports and Cricket Club.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Kathua Blues scored 127 runs in 41 overs in the first innings.Anuj was the top scorer with 44 runs, while Shivam contributed 25 runs to the total and Sanjay chipped in with 11 runs. For Sehwag Academy, medium pacer Jasvir Singh and off-spinner Vatsal took 3 wickets each in 12 and 8 overs respectively, while leggie Harsh claimed 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Saksham and Daksh also took one wicket each.
In reply, Sehwag Academy was 22/1 in 15 overs when the stumps were drawn today. Abhi was the only successful bowler for Kathua Blues.
The match is being officiated by Shugal, Lakshya, Akarsh and Satyam, while the Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Vivek Sharma, former Ranji Trophy player.
12 teams are participating in this long-version matches cricket tournament for Under-14, 16 and Under-19 boys, which is being played on turf wicket.
According to the organizers, the 2-day matches are being held with an objective to provide ample opportunity to the budding cricketers of the State to play in longer version of the game and develop temperament and skill.
