KATHUA, Nov 28: A workshop on ‘Information Security Awareness’ was organized today for the MCA students of Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.
The workshop was conducted as part of a series of workshops on Information Security sponsored by Department of Electronics, Government of India in collaboration with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Jammu.
Darvinder Singh Oberoi, Scientist and Shilender Kumar were the resource persons for the workshop.
The broad theme of the workshop included information security concerns. The resource persons enlightened participants about hacking issues, phishing, spoofing, WAP encryption, wireless network security, firewalls, spywares and mobile spoofing. Online threats in general and threats related to hacking in particular, their implications, and preventive measures were discussed in detail.
The organizers distributed three books related to Information Security Awareness to each student individually titled “Hand Book of Information Security”, “Student Hand Book” and “Operating System Hardening and Tool Kit”.
The workshop was well received by the participants. The initiative was coordinated by Dr Vivek Sharma, Deepak Gupta, Surbhi Gupta, Suresh Singh and Amit Sharma.
