Kathua police seizes 136 bottles of liquor

KATHUA, June 10: In a major breakthrough against the trade of illicit liquor menace in the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered near about 136 bottles of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Hiranagar and three persons were arrested in this connection.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS), Hiranagar led by Inspector, Anil Kumar Sharma, SHO PS Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area apprehended two persons namely Kamal, son of Bansi Lal of Bhajoka Chack Tehsil Hiranagar, Surinder Kumar son of Des Raj of Dyalachak tehsil Hiranagar.
During checking, 85 bottles of Desi Whisky of 180ml each and 36 bottles of 250ml each were recovered from their possession. Meanwhile, in another incident where said police party apprehended another suspect namely Sham Lal, son of Dilharan R/o Ward No 13 Hatli Morh Kathua.
On checking 15 more bottles of desi whisky of 750ml each were recovered thus by making a total of overall 136 bottles of illicit liquor. Meanwhile, all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor seized and three persons were arrested. In this regard, respective cases vide FIR No 78/2021 and 79/2021 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Hiranagar and investigation has been initiated
Local inhabitants of the area appreciated the action of Kathua Police.
