REASI, July 6: DDC members from Katra and Pouni have appealed the administration to keep their areas with Reasi Assembly constituency.
While taking to media persons, here today, DDC member from Pouni Kewal Krishan Sharma said that Reasi is their district headquarter and Pouni tehsil border is just 6 -7 km away from Reasi so they favour to keep the area with Reasi constituency.
“We are receiving information that the Government is thinking of separating Pouni tehsil from Reasi constituency to attach it with some other constituency, which is not acceptable to us,” he added.
The DDC members from Katra and Panthal also shared the same view during the press conference. DDC member from Panthal said that Government is thinking of separating some Panchayats of Panthal which come under Reasi constituency but are part of Udhampur district.
“There is a strong rumour that Government is separating Katra from Reasi and attaching it with some other constituency. We will strongly oppose this move and request administration to keep us with Reasi constituency,” said Mr Mengi.
The DDC members along with Sarpanches, panches , prominent persons from their respective areas also submitted a memorandum to DC highlighting their demand and requested administration to keep their areas with Reasi Assembly constituency.
