JAMMU, Mar 3: Katra XI defeated J&K Road & Safety Cricket Club in the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Over Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
The Tournament is being held in the memory of former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, under the overall supervision of Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy.
Earlier, Road & Safety team scored a modest total of 126 runs, with Imtiyaz Ali (43), Zubair (33) and Obaid Ali (25) being the main contributors. Sahil was the pick of the bowlers for Katra XI, who took 4 important wickets, Rashid bagged 2, while Shubham, Rajkumar and Anil shared one wicket each.
In reply, Katra XI, after the disastrous beginning chased the target in a tough contest and advanced into the next round. Sahil was the top scorer with 24 runs, while Rashid and Rajkumar 16 and unbeaten 6 respectively were the other contributors. For Road & Safety Cricket team, Zubair took 5 wickets, while Majid, Ishtiaq and Showkat share one wicket each. For his all-round show, Sahil was declared as man of the match.
