Kavinder for promoting sports talent in youth

JAMMU, Nov 21: Describ-ing sports as an all season activity for the growth and development of youth, the Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today said that the talented youth of the state need to be provided a platform both by family and Government to prove their mettle.
The Speaker said this while distributing the prizes among the players at the concluding ceremony of Final match of Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Hockey Tournament-2015 played at K.K.Hakhu Astro Turff Hockey Stadium, Jammu this afternoon.
Mr Gupta said that youth of state are blessed with great talent  and prowess and present dispensation is making concerted efforts to provide proper sports infrastructure to talented players to live their dreams and make their state proud at national and international events.
He hoped that efforts to create better sports environment in the State will yield positive dividends and more players come to fore and represent the state in various sports events.
Describing sports a tool of motivation and happiness among the children and youth alike, the Speaker said that present dispensation has already initiated measures to improve sports in the state.
Laying stress on the schools and colleges to make extracurricular activities more participative rather than symbolic, the Speaker said that government has ordered immediate restoration of playgrounds and playfields so that these are used for organizing inter-school, inter-college and inter-district sporting activities.
The Tournament was organised by Kashmir Sikh Sangat in which 9 Hockey teams participated. The final match of the tournament was played between Khalsa Club, Gole Gujral and MBS Club, Simbal Camp which was won by Khalsa Club by 4-2 goals via tie-breaker.
On the occasion, MLC Charanjeet Singh, ADG Police SM Sahai, Secretary Sports Council, Javaid Ahmad Shah, president KSS S Sewa Singh, sr vice president, Er K N Singh, S Manjit Singh, STS Reen, STP Singh, members of KSS and a large number of sports lovers were present.
The proceedings of the programme were beautifully conducted by Karamjeet Singh, general secretary Kashmir Sikh Sangat.
