Kavinder Gupta urges students to combat social evils

JAMMU:  Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today urged the youth to become socially aware and combat social evils plaguing the society.

Kavinder Gupta was speaking at a function organized to pay tributes to Indian Freedom martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and   Sukhdev on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas at Rainbow Public School, Rampura, Gandhi Nagar.

Addressing a large gathering of students, the Speaker urged them to keep themselves informed about the existing social situation and do their part in combating many social evils prevalent in the society.

Speaker further asked the students to learn from the life of freedom heroes who at a young age stood up to fight against growing oppression of India at the hands of British regime, believed in the idea of Independent India and laid their lives protecting and executing that belief.

“Our nation has emerged after many sacrifices by young and old alike, and we should ensure that their contributions and their stories are never forgotten,” he said.

A colorful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by students of the institution depicting patriotic spirit.

The Speaker also distributed prizes, certificates among various students excelling in multiple disciplines.

The function was attended by parents, students, senior political leaders and prominent citizens.

Earlier, Kavinder Gupta visited Beli Charana and interacted with residents of the area to take stock of their grievances, concerns.

The Speaker gave a patient hearing to problems and demands projected by people including demand for development of approach road, water supply etc and assured them that all their genuine issues will be taken up at the appropriate forums for early action.
