JAMMU, May 12: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA from Gandhi Nagar Constituency Kavinder Gupta today toured different localities of Nanak Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Qasim Nagar along with Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Soujanya Sharma, Executive Engineer JMC Arvind Gupta, CTO JMC Deepak Gupta and other field staff of JMC.
Gupta reviewed the working of the field staff and the works being carried out by the Municipal Corporation at different places of Gandhi Nagar. He also visited different sites where works are going on for de-silting of deep drains. Gupta, on the spot directed the officers to get the de-silting done before the onset of Monsoon season.
During his tour, he also visited Shastri Nagar Shamshan Ghat and inspected the expansion work which was started by JMC on his direction in the month of March. Municipal Commissioner JMC, Soujanya Sharma briefed the Speaker about the works being carried out and also assured the quality and timely completion the project.
Gupta told the officers to make a project report for Multi-storey parking opposite cremation ground and submit it shortly to him so that the required funds can be asked from the concerned department for starting the project at the earliest. Locals welcomed this step of the Speaker and thanked him for taking cognizance of the people’s problem as traffic jams can be seen very often in the area due to non-availability of proper parking.
Earlier in the morning, Gupta was called upon by many youths of area who submitted a charter of demands to him, major demands among them were generation of employment and providing sports facilities to them. Gupta told them that he has already taken up the matter with concerned departments, he assured them that all the grounds of the Gandhi Nagar Constituency coming under Sports Council would be developed at par with national level grounds so that youths can participate in different sports and can earn name and fame not only for themselves but for state as well.
Vinay Gupta, Vikram Randhawa, Surjeet Chowdhary, Ajay Pargal, Er. Ashwani Khosla, Ishant Gupta, Bharat Sharma, Perminder Singh Bhall Vijender Dutta were among others who accompanied the Speaker.
