JAMMU: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today urged the people to assist the government in conserving public assets and asked them to use the facilities including power and water judiciously.
He further said that it is the duty of every individual to come forward and play their role in the development and progress of the nation, adding that India is emerging as global economic power under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
The Speaker was addressing the public gathering after kick starting construction works of lanes and drains at Brahmin Mohalla, Narwal.
The people from cross sections of the society apprised the Speaker about the problems being faced by them related to power supply, water supply and road connectivity.
After listening to their grievances, the Speaker informed them that the government has sanctioned two mega projects for the development of this area, besides constructing seven new tube wells in the vicinity of the locality.
Enumerating various welfare schemes being launched by the government, the Speaker asked the people to take maximum benefit of the state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes including Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Ladli Beti Scheme, State Marriage Assistance Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, IHHL and many others.
“Our objective is to reach out to every citizen of the state and special stress is being laid on the upliftment of the poorer sections of the society, providing employment to the youth, empowering women folk and impart quality education to the children” he added.
