JAMMU, Nov 25: Jammu’s shooter, Kavya Kochhar, has secured a remarkable hat-trick of medals at the 0755 India Open Shooting Championship 2024 in Bhopal. The event, held from November 19 saw Kavya winning gold in the 50-meter pistol women’s event, along with silver in the 25-meter sports pistol and 10-meter air pistol events. Her impressive achievements have brought immense pride to Jammu and Kashmir.
Representing the J&K Police Club, Kavya has been training under the guidance of Rajesh Virdhy, Madhupal Singh, and Vijay Kumar, with additional mentorship from Pardeep Kumar of Chandigarh. Known for her consistency, Kavya has amassed numerous national and Zonal titles, and this recent success adds to her growing list of accolades.
Dilbag Singh, Patron-in-Chief of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA), congratulated Kavya and her coaches. S.S. Sodhi, President of JKRA, expressed pride in Kavya’s performance and the efforts of J&K shooters. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Chairman of JKRA, praised her for setting a benchmark in the sport. Arun Manhas also commended her performance, acknowledging the strong support of the J&K Sports Council in promoting shooting sports.
