Jammu, July 18: Squash Individual Championship in the men’s category was held at the ultra modern Squash courts of KC Sports Club, here today.
Eight players participated in the tournament with immense zeal and competitive spirit.
At the end of the preliminary fixtures, the first semifinal was played between Vinay Wanchoo and Ajay in which Vinay emerged as winner with a score of (10-6,10-5), while the second semifinal was played between Rohit Sharma and Anil Kumar in which Rohit defeated Anil by (10-6,10-9 & 10-5).
The final match between Vinay Wanchoo and Rohit Sharma turned out to be a cliffhanger. However, Rohit Sharma carried the day with a slim margin in all 3 sets with the score of (10-8, 6-10 & 10-7).
Aashray Gupta bagged third spot in the tournament.
