KCC registers 4 wkts victory over NCC, sails to semis

KATHUA, Apr 18: KCC registered 4 wickets victory over NCC in the quarterfinal match and advanced to the semifinal stage of the ongoing Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Tawi Organizing Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sport Stadium, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, NCC Jammu made 139 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sagar was the top scorer who made 37 runs in just 32 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and one lofty six, while Hardeep also scored 29 runs in 27 balls with the help of 3 balls towards the fence. Rohit Bhat also contributed 26 runs in 20 balls with the help of one boundary.
Somey Jain of KCC bowled well and scalped 2 wickets after conceding only 17 runs in his 4 overs, while Dhruv Mahajan also took 2 wickets by giving just 14 runs n 2.5 overs. Pardeep got one wicket in his 3 overs spell.
In the second inning, KCC Jammu played well and chased the target in 19.2 overs by losing 6 wickets. Shashi scored 27 runs in 31 balls with the help of 2 balls towards the fence, while Atul made 25 runs in just 17 balls with the help of 6 crispy boundaries and Druv Mahajan also contributed 25 runs in 24 balls with the help of 3 boundaries.
Deepak of NCC was the pick of the bowler with 2 wickets, while Hardeep also scalped one wicket.
Dhruv Mahajan of KCC was declared as man of the match for his outstanding all round performance and was awarded with cash prize of Rs 500 and a trophy by Shashi Paul, President, Tawi Organizing Committee, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Anoop Sharma and Ram Lubhaya as umpires, while Kulbushan Singh maintained the scorecard.
In tomorrow’s fixture, PTS Kathua will lock horns with RCC, Kathua in the semifinal.
