SRINAGAR, Dec 30: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry has taken serious notice of the decision taken by the Ladakh administration in connection with selling the raw Pashmina through auction outside the State as indicated in the auction notice issued by the Chairman Auction Committee (DC Leh).
According to a statement, president KCC&I Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad contacted the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and the Deputy Commissioner Leh to inform about the repercussion of such a decision. Processing the raw Pashmina produced in the State, through local artisan for value addition process provides livelihood to lakhs of people directly or indirectly and it also contributes a sizable share to the State economy at the same time, he explained and stressed that the raw Pashmina be first offered on auction within the State.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh and also the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir assured that the auction will first be organized at Jammu in Ladakh Sarai before the date for auction in Delhi, the handout claimed.
