KCPS, Army Goodwill PS hold Joint Trekking Adventure

PAHALGAM, June 10: 14 boys and 4 teachers of KC Public School Jammu and 8 boys and 3 teachers of Army Goodwill Public School Pahalgam organised a 3-days Joint Trekking Adventure in Pahalgam.
The programme was the first of its kind event between the two CBSE affiliated Schools in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The students enjoyed first day’s trek to Aru Valley, 12 kilometers away from Pahalgam and walked through one of the most beautiful places in the world while reaching the small hamlet of Aru. They pitched two tents on green patch of the vast meadow and spent the afternoon exploring the valley’s rich flora and fauna.
Thereafter, the students trekked to Lidderwat area up in the mountains, which was an arduous trek of 20 kilometers. Then the students returned to Pahalgam by school bus and climbed up a steep trail to Baisaram Valley, where they received a warm welcome by the men of 3 Rashtriya Riffles. They kept themselves busy by playing cricket on the lush green meadow surrounded by lofty snow-clad Himalayas.
The trekking group of KCPS comprised of Ramandeep Singh, Animesh Sharma, Haren Chrungoo, Ayush Pandoh, Suryabhan Singh Jamwal, Akhil Sadotra, Kartik Sharma, Varun Saraf, Vishesh Bhat, Kamil Sharma, Rahul Razdan, Raghunandan Singh, Danish Chib and Dheeraj Salgotra. Dr Ram Thakur, Academic Director, Sonia Thakur, Ajay Thappa and Jarnail Singh were the teacher escorts. The eight students of AGPS Pahalgam included Mir Shezen, Tauseef Ahmaed Wani, Peer Zada Hilal, Umar Mukhtar, Waris Nazir Lone, Musharaf Mushtaq, Aabid Lone and Sheikh Aamir. Nazir Ahmed Khan, AGPS Coordinator of Activities and Discipline along with his colleagues Farooq Ahmed Wani, NCC Officer and Nazir Hussain Khan accompanied the AGPS boys during the trek.
