JAMMU, Jan 11: For the second year in succession, KC Public School (KCPS) organized its annual function virtually and streamed it on ‘YouTube’ for parents and invited guests, here.
The function began with a brief tour of the School and KC Sports Club, followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Chairman Raju Chowdhary, Managing Director Arti Chowdhary, Principal Amarendra Kumar Mishra and Headmistress Sofia Rana.
Principal Mishra presented the annual School report with special emphasis on academic achievements and complimented the School teaching staff for their commitment and devotion to online teaching necessitated by COVID-19 pandemic.
The first part of the cultural programme consisted of an inspirational song presented by the children highlighting the essence of ‘Mother Mature’ and her elements like, water, soil, sky and flowers.
A report on round square activities was presented by RS Prefects highlighted participation of KCPS students and staff in numerous online conferences, seminars, meetings and collaborative projects hosted by Round Square Schools from all over the world in another pandemic ridden year.
The main item of the cultural programme was the enactment of Habib Tanvir’s world-famous play ‘Charandas’ by the students of the senior school. The cast of the play included three children from ‘Raunak’ -a social work undertaking recently launched by students of KCPS for the welfare of children residing in hutments near School Campus.
Based on folklore of Chhattisgarh, the play underscores the virtue of truthfulness and honesty. The theatrical performance was followed by the felicitation of two School alumni Dr Sumedha Chaudhary and Ribhav Mittal who in their video messages expressed gratitude to their alma mater for shaping their careers and personalities.
Chairman Raju Chowdhary presented a cash award to Tanmay Gupta for topping the All India NEET examination 2021 and also presented the Round Square King Constantine Medal to Mishika Mittal for her remarkable contribution to community service.
In his address to the audience, Chowdhary focused on the significance of drastic steps humanity has been taking to cope with a global calamity and put in a word of appreciation for the entire School team of teachers, administrative staff, support staff, parents and students. The function concluded with the National Anthem.
