JAMMU, Mar 28: KC Public School earned the distinction of becoming the first school from the State of Jammu & Kashmir to be granted the membership of Round Square-a worldwide network of innovative schools spread over 50 countries and six continents.
The Candidate School Membership was granted after an evaluation inspection conducted in November 2016. The members of the evaluation team were quite impressed with the programmes of the school aimed at imparting innovative education as per the six principles of the Round Square movement.
KCPS students also gave them an extensive tour of the school campus including its unique Art Gallery and Heritage Centre. They also gave a power-point presentation on various activities done around six ideals of the Round Square.
Round Square was founded in 1966 and maintains and facilitates a worldwide network of 180 schools that share a holistic approach to learning built around six IDEALS of learning based on Kurt Hahn’s educational philosophy.
Round Square network offers schools a framework for excellence and continuous improvement, along with structured opportunities to collaborate and share experiences with like-minded peers around the world. Member schools share a passion for experiential learning built around six IDEALS of learning, namely, Internatio-nalism, Democracy, Enviro-nmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Round Square students are encouraged to discover and develop their own capabilities through a range of experiences, activities, collaborative projects and challenges, both within and outside the curriculum, including social service projects, exchanges and conference participation.
In continuity of the process of evaluation for membership of the Round Square, delegations of KCPS students and one teacher rep were invited to RS Global Conference hosted by Mayo College, Ajmer from January 8 to 14, 2017 and to 3 days long RS Regional Conference hosted by Singapore International School, Mumbai from January 26 to 28, 2017.
At both these Conferences, students of KCPS earned appreciation for their immaculate conduct and exemplary level of enthusiasm.
By earning the membership of this elite worldwide network of innovative schools, KCPS enters the league of prominent Indian Round Square member schools such as Doon School Dehradun, Mayo College (both boys & girls) Ajmer, Lawrence School (Sanawar & Lovedale Ooty), Scindia School Gwalior, Daly College Indore and Welham Dehradun.
