KCPS students attend Regional Round Square Conference

JAMMU, Nov 2: Seven students of KC Public School in the age group of 13 to 15 years attended the Regional Round Square Conference at Him Academy Public School, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
The KCPS delegates were Suhani Sachdeva, Anushka Sharma, Agrima Prasher, Samagya Chopra, Rasalika Chopra, Shivam Amla and Aadhar Kapoor escorted by School RS Rep Sonia Thakur and Academic Director Dr Ram Thakur. Suhani Sachdeva performed the role of Flag Bearer of the school throughout the conference.
After the opening ceremony on October 29, more than 100 student and adult delegates from 14 Round Square Schools from India and abroad took part in a wide range of activities that included interactive sessions with keynote speakers on the theme of the Conference ‘Co-existence’ and on adventure and conservation of environment. The highlight of the conference was an interactive session with spiritual leader Dalai Lama at his residence in Dharamshala where he addressed the delegates and answered their questions.
In his address, the Dalai Lama advised the young delegated to connect with and nurture the qualities of head and heart to lead a meaningful life. He asserted that human beings were basically compassionate and kind by nature but were bogged down by materialistic pursuits.
Commander Pratibha Jamwal, an officer of the Indian Navy from Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, as one of the keynote speakers shared her experiences as a member of the all-women crew of Indian naval officers to circumnavigate earth in a sail boat named ‘Tarini’ and win the Tenzing Norgay Award for Adventure in 2018. She impressed and inspired the delegates as a role model of young achievers.
During 3 days of the conference, the delegates took part in baraza group discussions on the theme of the conference after listening to the keynote speaker, took part in adventure activities and also attended workshops on up-cycling waste materials into commercially viable products.
The conference which was very well organized by the host school concluded with cultural performances by 14 participating RS Schools and presentation of certificates.
