KDS beat HH in a thrilling encounter in IBL

Lucknow, Aug 17: Krrish Delhi Smashers (KDS) beat Hyderabad Headshots in a hard fought match in the inaugural Indian Badminton League (IBL) here at BBD Badminton Academy here tonight.

Trailing by 0-2, KDS won the next three matches Prajakta Sawant of KDS was adjudged player of the match for her contribution in the last mixed double match. In the first singles match S Tonongshak of HH beat B Sai Praneeth of KDS in a hard fougt three game match by 21-19, 19-21 and 11-9.Later Tonongshak said that it was a hard match and he was happy that he won the first match for his team.

India’s badminton golden girl Saina Nehwal tamed with Arundhati Panthawane in the girl single in the second match to make it 2-0 for HH.Saina beat her KDS rival by 21-6 and 21-8 in an one sided match. After the match Saina said,’I love winning and loved the support that I got from my fans here.KDS is not an very easy team and winning against them would be great.’ However, KDS cheered by its icon Jwala Gutta, made a return in the match when thier mens doubles team of Koo Kien keat and Tan Boon Hoenh beat V Shem Goh and Kona Tarun of HH to make the score 1-2.

KDS beat HH in direct sets of 21-14 and 21-20.

In the fourth match  betweeb former world champion Taufik Hidayat of HH and youngster Malaysian Daren Liew of KDS was also an one sided affair. The Malaysian shuttler easily beat his senior Taufik in direct sets of 21-10 and 21-7 making it 2-2 for both the teams. In the last and deciding match V Diju and Prajakta Sawant of KDS beat V Shem Goh and Pradenya Gadre by 21-20 and 21-15 in the mixed doubles match. (UNI)
