Kerala ride on an unbeaten 129 by Sanju to finish day on 263/7 against J&K

JAMMU, Oct 5: Kerala rode on an unbeaten 129 by Sanju Samson to finish the day on 263/7 in 89 overs against Jammu and Kashmir who opted to bowl on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match at Bengal Cricket Academy Ground, West Bengal, today.
Jammu and Kashmir led by skipper Parvez Rasool won the toss and put Kerala to bat first. Sanju Samson made unbeaten 129 runs off 250 balls including 19 boundaries and one six, while Jalaj Saxena chipped in 69 runs off 88 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and one six.
Iqbal Abdulla and Karaparambil Monish scored 14 runs each.
From J&K side, Samiullah Beigh proved his bowling mettle and scalped 4 wickets by conceding 68 runs in 21 overs, while Ram Dayal took 2 wickets by giving 58 runs in 22 overs. Umar Nazir clinched one wicket by giving 44 runs in 15 overs.
The match is being officiated by Vineet Kulkarni and Nikhil Patwardhan as umpires, while match referee is Prasanta Mohapatra.

Meanwhile, Pravez Rasool today exuded confidence that his team has enough time to make up for the loss. “Everyone knows that we never had a camp this time”, Rasool added.
“As a team I feel we are a bit short on practice. But that’s fine. We have enough time in our hands to make up for this. The more matches we play the faster we would overcome this. We will be fine”, he stated.
He said the bowlers did well and not felt that we were new to bowling
Today, adding that “I hope the batsmen also click on this track”.
Giving details about their preparation, he further said, “We had two days practice after coming here. I was playing Duleep Trophy so my preparation was fine. The rest were preparing on their own,
After all we all are professionals. We have to do it”.
