Kerosene retailers protest cut in oil supply

SRINAGAR, Jan 8: After 33 per cent cut in kerosene supply to the State by the Central Government, kerosene retailers today protested against the decision and demanded its revocation.
Demonstrating under Coordination Committee Retail Kerosene Oil Dealers at Lal Chowk, the protesters said that the livelihood of 4000 people depends on retail depots, and by cutting the supplies things will get worse for them.
The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas under on December 31 decided to cut the supply to the State by 33.34 percent.
The agitated dealers said that consumers in the State will also get affected by the decision, particularly in harsh winter.
The dealers said that earlier each ration card holder would get 4.48 liters and after the cut he will get mere three liters of kerosene per month.
They appealed to the Government of India to rescind the order and allot the State the earlier supply.
