JAMMU, Mar 4: BJP Leader of Legislative Party, Ashok Khajuria clashed with Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma after former made a remark against the Congress Party while participating in the debate on Governor’s address in the House during its second sitting.
Mr Khajuria while referring to Congress asked the Chief Minister you have to curtail those sitting on your right side and used a Dogri word “Padaw Pidhey”. This was strongly objected by Sham Lal Sharma who said the MLA was using un -Parliamentary language and he should confine himself to Governor’s address and not discuss the role of the parties. He was also supported by Minister of R&B Abdul Majid Wani and MLA, Bhaderwah M S Niaz who too stood up from their seats to argue with BJP leader.
However, Khajuria said that he did not made any un-Parliamentary remarks about the party and he was within his right to speak on Governor’s address.
Sharma also made some remark about the party which was not heard in the din. This provoked Khajuria who retarded saying you were the killers of Sikhs and saviors of Bangladeshis.
Later, Khajuria said that he who has the courage to listen to criticism goes ahead in life. On it Congress MLA, G M Saroori said Khajruia has himself praised Congress and let it prove prophetic for the party. But BJP MLA replied that it was true but the Modi storm has lashed the country and no body can save your party.
Khajuria while referring to Chief Minister said if Omar Abdullah Government delivers goods BJP will back it fully. He said Kashmir is inseparable part of India and his party will not allow any to raises a finger on that.
Later, the House also witnessed a clash between the NPP MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia and M S Niaz of Congress when the former accused the Congress of not implementing its poll promise regarding delimitation.
The Congress MLA objected the same saying that it was a coalition partner of NC and Congress does not have the majority on its own to implement the poll promise.
This argument was objected by Jagdish Raj Sapolia of breakaway BJP who said if Congress is ready to bring an amendment we will support that.
Niaz said that during the Amarnath land row 2008 Congress could not get majority and it was your party led by Atal Behari Vajpayee Government at Centre which had banned delimitation up to 2026.
In support of Niaz his party colleagues Ashok Kumar and Krishan Chander also stood up the seats and started arguing with Sapolia.
To correct Niaz, Mankotia told him that Vajpayee was not leader of his party but BJP. While taking part in debate Mankotia also stressed on keeping secretariat for entire year in Jammu as well as Kashmir to mitigate sufferings of people. He strongly advocated for re-organization of the State.
Earlier participating in the debate Ashok Kumar said that Government has taken several steps for the welfare of the State in all three regions.
He said peace initiatives taken by the Government are praiseworthy which have paved way for all round development. He sought more steps for the development of Ramban area.
T. Namgyal sought more attention towards the development of Ladakh region. Being hilly and difficult terrain, he demanded special schemes suiting the people of this region.
Ch. Sukhnandan said that there is no mention for the welfare of farmers which constitutes 80 per cent in the State. He demanded timely fertilizer, seeds and adequate marketing facilities for the farmers across the Jammu division.
Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal appreciated the performance of the Government and steps initiated to improve the basic services in important departments. He also lauded the Central Government for providing adequate funds under all vital sectors to upgrade the basic infrastructure. He urged the Government to pay more attention to develop Jammu and Srinagar cities on modern lines to woo more tourists. He also urged to improve the power scenario in the State.
Ashok Khajuria sought early settlement of PoK refugees’ issues and review of present recruitment policy. He urged the Government to take concrete steps to ensure peace, which is pre-requisite for development. He assured that his party will support the Government on all positive issues which are for the welfare of the State.
Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie demanded additional Court in Sopore. He also called for strengthening the health servic es and educational facilities in the north Kashmir. He also demanded upgradation of power infrastructure and provision of solar lights in Sopore town.
Lal Chand asked the Government to pay attention to the development of Horticulture in Kathua district. He also demanded representation to Kathua district in the Backward Classes Commission.
