BARAMULLA, July 22: Khalsa Club Uplina defeated Surjeet Club Baramulla by three goals to one (3-1) in the ongoing District Baramulla Hockey Tournament, being organized by Hockey Baramulla, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at Government Degree College ground, here.
Khalsa Club netted 2 early goals through Arshdeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh in 4th and 6th minute of the match respectively, with Arshdeep converting a penalty corner and Gurpreet scoring a field goal. However, Autar Singh of Surjeet Club reduced the lead by netting a superb goal in 9th minute of the match. Gurpreet Singh scored his second and the team’s third goal in 56th minute to make it (3-1) in favour of Khalsa Club and the team won with the same margin.
Khalsa Club got 5 penalty corners and converted one into the goal, while Surjeet Club failed to convert any goal from its two penalty corners.
Dr Harmeek Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Inderjeet Singh, Mohinder Pal Singh, Manjeet Singh, Devinder Pal Singh and Ravi Raj Singh.
SAI North will take on Sherdil XI Baramulla in the next match at the same venue tomorrow.
