JAMMU, Nov 23: As a prelude to review and monitor the Commercial Taxes Department, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Commercial Taxes Baseer Ahmad Khan.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Adm.) Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Tax Planning) and Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Headquarter).
The performance ending October 2015 of Commercial Taxes officers holding circles A to J was reviewed extensively by the Commissioner Commercial Taxes. During the course of meeting, it transpired that the Commercial Taxes Department in case of Jammu Division has shown an increase of 16.11% ending October 2015 against last year corresponding period.
The highest growth being in case of VAT/GST/CST which is 21.49%. There is a growth of Rs 372.10 crore in revenue collection as compared to the corresponding period of last financial year.
The Commissioner Comme-rcial Taxes directed all the officers to achieve the targets by making untiring efforts. He enjoined upon the officers that due courtesy and preferential treatment be extended to the honest taxpayers while as the cases of tax evasion be dealt strictly in accordance with the law.
