SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir is going to host ‘Khelo India Wushu Womens League-2022 North Zone’ from tomorrow, at SKISC Indoor Stadium, which will culminate on November 7.
In the four days event about 500 women athletes of 8 States/UT’s i.e. Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Ladakh, Uttrakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Delhi teams will be participating in the championship.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull congratulated the Wushu Association of India and J&K for organizing the event.
“It is a great initiative and concept to promote women athletes across India. I am really overwhelmed that the Wushu Association of India has allotted Khelo India North Zone Womens League and Khelo India National Wushu Women’s League to Wushu Association of J&K,” she said.
The national league will be held in Jammu in the month of December-2022. A cash award to the tune of Rs 40 lakhs will be awarded to the different weight category among the three divisions of the league.
It is a great platform for the women athletes including Sadia Tariq, Kaifa Shah, Munazah Gazi, Ayera, Ana Chesti, Aliza Shah, Riya Chib, Heena and Madhya to exhibit their best in the championship.
In this regard, a meeting was held at Srinagar which was attended by Deputy Director SAI Nadeem Ahmad, Krishan Kumar (Representative from SAI), Sohail Ahmad, Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee), Manish Kacker (Vice President-WAI), PN Azad, Bharneel and Vijay Saraf (Office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K).
