‘Khelo Khel-Bhulo Nasha’ Jammu Soccer C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Feb 14: Jodhamal Public School registered emphatic win over APS in the inaugural match of the “Khelo Khel- Bhulo Nasha’ Jammu Soccer Championship, which got underway at Parade Ground, here today.
The soccer tournament for Jammu School students in which 10 schools namely APS Akhnoor, Jodhamal Public School, Little Flower School, Living Bethel School, BSF School Paloura, Heritage, JP World, KV Bantalab, KV-2 Jammu Cantt and KC Public School are participating, is being organized by the District Police Jammu under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) of J&K Police.
The objective of the tournament is to involve young children in sports activities and to provide them platform to showcase skill and talent.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Ashkoor Ahmad Wani, was the chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by In-charge SSP Jammu, Dr. Vinod Kumar and SP Headquarters Jammu, Ramesh Kotwal.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Wani lavished praise on District Police Jammu for holding the soccer tournament with the slogan “Khelo Khel-Bhulo Nasha” for young children involving School teams of Jammu district.
DIG said that there is the need to make the young children aware about the drug menace which is increasing day-by-day in the society, to stop them not to derail from the mainstream.
Earlier, in the inaugural match, Jodhamal School defeated APS School by 3-0 goals. All three goals were scored by Akshit Verma in 12th, 37th and 50th minute of the game.
The tournament is being organized under the Supervision of Incharge SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar and the Organizing team includes  Ramesh Kotwal SP Headquarter, Sugandha Mahajan DySP Headquarters, Gourav Mahajan DySP DAR, Ragubhir Singh SHO Nowabad and Ajay Bhat SHO Pacca Danga, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer NHRC Jammu is the Coordinator of the tournament.
The officials of the inaugural match were Rahul Sharma, Dheeraj Menia, Moon Stephan and Neetika.
The proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by DySP Sugandha Mahajan.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Bethel Living School will take on BSF Paloura at 9. 30 am; KV-2 Jammu Cantt will face KC Public School at 10.30 am and Jodhamal Public School will face Little Flower School at 12.15 pm.
