JAMMU, May 17: Scripting narrow wins over their rivals in the summit clashes, Khour and Bhalwal zone claimed Under-14 and Under-17 boys volleyball title trophies respectively in the Jammu District Inter-Zonal Tournament which concluded at Government Higher Secondary School Domana, here today.
The Tournament was organized under the chairmanship of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of Tirath Ram, DYSSO Jammu.
Earlier, in Under-14 boys final, Bhalwal zone defeated Marh zone by two sets to one (2-1), while in Under-17 boys title clash, Khour zone outplayed Akhnoor zone by the same margin.
Satwari zone lifted the Under-14 kabaddi title by beating Miran Sahib zone by 3 points, while in Under-17 kabaddi final, Bishnah will take on Gandhi Nagar zone on May 20, 2013 at the same venue which will be followed by the valedictory function, wherein Director General Youth Services and Sports will he chief guest.
Kho-kho Under-14 boys title went to Miran Sahib zone, defeating Akhnoor zone in a thrilling contest by one point, while in kho-kho Under-17 boys final, Akhnoor got better of Bhalwal by 2 points.
Meanwhile, in wrestling Under-17 boys, Aatish Sharma of HSS Pallanwala bagged gold in 42 kg, while Sahil Sharma of HSS Gou Manasan claimed silver.
In 46 kg, Mohd Rafiq of HSS Gou Manasan and Amanat Rasool of SWSN Dansal won gold and silver respectively.
The 50 kg gold went to Rakesh Kumar of HSS Bhalwal, while Vinay Sharma of HS Gharkhal won silver in this category.
In 54 kg, Munir Ahmad of HS Dhoomi bagged gold and Saif Ali of HSS Gharkhal clinched silver.
The 58 kg gold went to Sabir Khan of HSS Kathar Manwal, while Mohinder Lal of HSS Bhalwal claimed silver.
In 63 kg, Sunil Kumar of HSS Gajansoo bagged gold, while the silver went to Daler Khan of Hari Singh HSS, Jammu.
Rashid Ahmed of HSS Gou Manasan claimed gold in Under-17 boys 69 kg, while Akshay Singh of APS Domana won silver.
