Kichloo for channelizing sports talent of Police personnel

SRINAGAR, June 18: Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today stressed the need for channelizing sports talent among police personnel in right direction so that they can get laurels not only for the State but for the nation also.
Mr. Kichloo was addressing a function after declaring Inter Zone Sports Meet-2014 open at Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar. The sports meet which will last for four days, is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Director General of Police, K. Rajendra and ADGP Armed, S. M. Sahai were present on the occasion.
The Minister expressed gratitude on the eve of 141st Police Raising Day and appreciated DGP for organizing sports meet.
“On such occasions we must remember all those police personnel who laid their precious lives for the welfare of the State”, said Mr. Kichloo expressing full support for the bereaved families.
The Minister underlined the need for adopting new sports policy in police department so that sports lovers in far off areas could take benefit from it. He also urged the DGP to conduct such sports events in rural areas also.
On the occasion Mr. Kichloo announced that the Government is seriously thinking upon the enhancement of Ration Money which is a long pending demand of police force. He said the issue has also been brought in to the notice of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
K Rajendra said that police provides a platform for the youth so that they can take part in sports activities with full interest and make their name at State and National level. He said Inter Zone Sports Meet is being held annually, however, in Srinagar it was held for the first time. He said that in future the sports meet will be held alternately at Srinagar and Jammu.
Earlier, the Minister took salute on march-past presented by 22 various contingents of Police Zones of Jammu and Kashmir.
Among others, the function was attended by ADGPs, V. K. Singh and Dilbagh Singh, IGPs, A.K Choudhary, Dr. B. Srinivas, H. K. Lohiya, A. G. Mir, M. S. Salaria, Munir Ahmed Khan, S. K. Sharma and Jagait Kumar besides DPT, Hilal Ahmed, DIGs, M. M Sadiq, Johny Williams and Ghulam Hussan Bhat and Commandants of Armed and IRP Battalions and other police officers.
