KATRA, Feb 25: RLG Systems India and Katra Municipal Corporation (KMC) has signed an agreement for collection, transportation, processing and disposal of electronic waste in Katra.
As per the agreement, RLG Systems India would carry out electronic waste management activities across residential, industrial, commercial and institutional areas of Katra in accordance with e-waste Rules, 2016 and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) norms related to e- waste management. The company would collect electronic waste deposited at the Katra Municipal Corporation. It would also design and carry out Information, Education and Communication (IEC) awareness to encourage generators to route their e-waste through authorized channels for collection, transportation, recycling and disposal.
Under the agreement, Katra Municipal Corporation has empanelled RLG Systems India for collection and storage of e-waste. Katra Municipal Corporation would extend required help to reach out to maximum stakeholders through spreading awareness on its social media handles.
Preeti Sharma, CEO, Katra Municipal Corporation, said after MoU signing, “It is very important for everyone to understand the importance of responsible disposal of e-waste. I appeal to the people of Katra to deposit their old electronic gadgets at the authorized collection centers and contribute towards environmental protection. Katra Municipal Corporation would extend all help to ensure the establishment of an efficient e-waste collection and disposal system”.
Radhika Kalia, MD, RLG India, said, “As a company, we have been striving tirelessly towards establishing a formal e-waste management infrastructure in the country. In Katra, we would carry out IEC activities to spread awareness about appropriate e-waste disposal. Our collection vehicle would collect e-waste according to the established rate-list, and ground workers with the vehicle would educate people on responsible e-waste disposal practices. We are confident that our efforts would bring about desired change”.
