Kohil for restructuring Animal, Sheep Husbandry deptt

JAMMU: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli, today convened a high level meeting to discuss and work out strategies for restructuring of Animal and Sheep husbandry departments.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Directors of Animal Husbandry Jammu and Kashmir, Directors Sheep Husbandry Jammu and Kashmir besides other officials.

Deliberating on several issues concerning further streamlining of the department, the Minister asked the officers to prepare a comprehensive plan based on the potential and need under the sector in the state. “The objective of the present dispensation is to make the state self sufficient in livestock production and consumption with focus on introduction of latest technical knowhow in the field”, he maintained.

The meeting also discussed in detail the issues regarding posting, promotions and related matters besides deliberating upon need of certain amendments in the existing recruitment rules in Animal, Sheep and fisheries department.

The Minister also had a detailed discussion on infrastructure development projects being executed under these departments.

The Minister said the animal, sheep and Fisheries department has the potential to eradicate unemployment menace in the state and that efforts are being made to attract the young generation   to invest in the field. He said schemes of the government should be implemented in letter and spirit so that the people are benefited to the optimum.
