JAMMU, Nov 6: District President, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference Poonch Mohammad Aslam Kohli has demanded re-election of Block Development Council (BDC) Surankote.
Addressing a press conference, Kohli said that in the recently held elections to BDC Surakote, bungling and corrupt practices took place and re-election is required to be conducted.
“As per the Election Department’s guidelines for contesting BDC election, the limit of expenses of Rs 2 lakh was fixed, but one of the Independent Candidate with the support of some Congress leaders openly threw all the rules and norms to winds. Such an act on the part of the Congress leader is against the command of Congress High Command and invites disciplinary action against Congress leaders”, Kohli stated.
Huge transactions were made during the BDC Surankote election by Independent Candidate and his associates, which needs to be examined by the concerned authorities, he said, adding that Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad should look into the matter of active participation of Congress leaders in BDC Block Surankote election despite boycott call by the party.
He demanded re-election for BDC Block Surankote in a fair and transparent manager so that a representative with positive and sincere thinking from the public may be given chance to honour this chair.
