KP organizations observe 25th ‘Holocaust Day’

JAMMU, Jan 19: Various Kashmiri Pandit (KP) organizations observed 25th anniversary of the ‘Holocaust Day’. The day was being observed every year by the community as the ‘Holocaust Day’ since 1991 in memory of the persecution that was inflicted upon them in the Valley in 1989-90.
“On this 25th anniversary of the Holocaust Day today, the Kashmiri Pandits continue to live as refugees in their own country”, Ashwani Chrungoo, president, Panun Kashmir, said this while addressing a press conference. DN Kissu, president, ADKPUF, Prem Singh, president, Kashmir Sikh Displaced Forum and Advocate Manjeet Razdan, Civil rights activist were also present. Chrungoo appealed to the Union Government to initiate a serious dialogue with the leadership of the displaced community for its resettlement in the Valley keeping in view their geo-political aspirations.
Senior BJP leader and MLA Dr Nirmal Singh reiterated the stand of Bharatiya Janata Party about the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Hindus and made it clear that his party will spare no efforts to see that the Pandits who are the original inhabitants of the Valley are given their due and historical space in Kashmir. Dr Singh was speaking at a function held to pay homage to the martyrs of 1947 tribal raids. The function was organized by Sanjeevni Sharda Kendra. Noted Columnist Shiban Khaibri, Kshtriya Pracharak of Rashtriya Syamsevak Sang Rameshwar ji, Brigadier Suchait Singh, Sat Sharma, JL Bhat, Raskin Ji and Vinod Bhat were also present.
All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) held a protest at Srinagar. Addressing the protestors, Vinod Pandita, Chairman, APMCC demanded that the State and the Central Governments should issue a white paper about the rehabilitation of the community. “We want our homes back. We are not tourists here. We need white paper to know what will be done in future for our rehabilitation”, Pandita stated. Among others present were Rakesh Pandita, Advocate Ramneek Sharma, Baby Bhat and Som Nath Saraf. The NCR-Delhi unit of APMCC also stated protest at Jantar-Mantar highlighting the plights of Kashmiri Hindus.
A function was organised by Panun Kashmir at the Homeland Secretariat at Jammu to observe the Holocaust Day. The participants exhorted the Kashmiri Pandits to reaffirm the resolve to carve out the separate Homeland in Kashmir with the free flow of Sanskrit civilisation. Addressing the activists, Vijay Bhat, president, Panun Kashmir said “Homeland is the collective resolve of the entire Kashmiri Pandit community to reclaim their civilisation and cultural moorings and once for all reverses the religious cleansing inflicted on the community by the Jihadi forces. In order to take the struggle to its logical conclusion, the need is to develop a comprehensive mechanism incorporating social, political, economic and civilization dimensions, he added.
All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) held a protest in front of Governor House. The protestors demanded strict action against those, who killed hundreds of innocent Kashmiri Pandits and are still at large. RK Raina, president, ASKPC, Ravinder Raina, vice president, SK Bhar, spokesperson, TK Jigyasu, SC Chatta, Ravi Raina, AK Dhar, SL Mujoo and Surinder Jallali were prominent present during the protest.
A seminar was organized by Panun Kashmir on the occasion of Holocaust Day. The seminar started with power point presentation on “Why Homeland” by Shailendra Aima and Dileep Kumar Kaul. The seminar was chaired by Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman of Panun Kashmir. Among others present were MM Khajuria, Ex-DGP, Prof Hari Om, Ex-HoD History, Jammu University, BS Slathia, senior Advocate and Ex-president, Bar Association Jammu, Yuvraj Gupta, leader, PoK Refugees association, ON Trisal, freedom fighter and ideology of Panun Kashmir and Pearay Lal Raina. The speakers lamented the inability of the Indian state to comprehend India as a place and emphasized the need to preserve India in Jammu and Kashmir.
On the eve of 25th Holocaust Day, Shriya Bhatt Mission Hospital organized a meeting of social activists. The social activists reiterated their pledge to help the poor and needy people of the KP community and stressed to redouble the efforts for achieving their socio-political rights. Dr KL Chowdhary, Rajesh Dhar, Educationist, Vir Ji Bhat, general secretary of the hospital, RK Pandita and Adresh Ajit expressed their views during the meeting.
KP Sabha Jammu held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president KK Khosa, who while speaking expressed deep concern over the fact that there has been no forward movement on the vital issues confronting the community during the last one year. The Sabha appealed to the Governor’s administration to hold interviews at Jammu for the posts to be filled up in different districts in the valley under PM’s package before another lot of the youth of the community becomes overage and thus loses the opportunity to take up a gainful employment. The meeting among others was also addressed by AK Braroo and Ashwani Koul, vice presidents.
