JAMMU, Nov 18: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has accused the Centre and State Governments of step motherly treatment and discriminatory attitude towards internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
Addressing a meeting of displaced Pandits at Jagti township today KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri said that both State and Centre Governments have taken Kashmiri Pandits for granted, thus ignoring them on all fronts because being a minuscule minority they are not a vote bank.
He however, said that Pandits have virtually played a vital role and also became winning factor for more than a half dozen of MLAs of Kashmir valley during the last Assembly elections in the State. In coming elections too this small margin of vote can again play a significant role, which both ruling and opposition parties must keep in mind.
Commenting on the return of displaced Pandits to Kashmir, he said that State and Centre Governments are not interested for their purposeful rehabilitation and resettlement in the Valley but for a token return they have given lollypops to some selected members of the community. He further said that State and Centre Governments are never sincere and honest towards KP community, which is evident from its delay in passage of Shrines Bill, rehabilitation of over aged youths, cold response to enhancement of relief, allotment of shops and other related issues.
He made it clear that PM’s rehabilitation package was not acceptable unless and until a Kashap homeland for the settlement of the community within Valley is carved out.
Other important KPC activists who addressed the meeting were  T.N Bhat, Bansi Lal Thusoo, Shaadi Lal Kaul,Tej Kishen Dhar, Rattan Lal Raina,  Ramkrishan, A.K.Tikoo, Kaka Ji Bhan, Raj Nath, Babloo Ji.
