JAMMU, July 3: Expressing concern overt the encroachment of shrines and temples land by mafia groups in Valley. Kashmiri Pandit Conference has accused the Coalition Government of maintaining a stoic silence over the issue.
In a statement issued here today KPC president Kundan Kashmiri said this silence has created doubts in the minds of the community as some politicians and bureaucrats are in league with the land mafia indulging in grabbing the religious property of minorities in Valley.
He said land belonging to Mahavir Ji temple has been disposed off while forest land belonging to Hindu temples in Shopian and Pahalgam has also been grabbed by mafia groups and commercial complexes were established over it.
He said the mafia groups have also sold the land of various temples in Valley and the role of so called trusts looking after the temples and shrines has also been dubious in this regard.
He said in open violation of Migrant Properties Act the land of the minority community is being sold on throw away prices.
In an appeal to Chief Minister, Mr Kashmiri demanded a probe into the matter and stressed on immediate passage of Kashmir Hindu Shrines and Religious Places Bill.
