JAMMU, Jan 8: In a final cricket match, Sharda Cricket Club defeated Surinder Cricket Club in the ongoing KPL-15 tournament at KC Sports Ground here today.
It was a game of cricket with all shades with nail biting, dramatic and entertaining end and won by Sharda Cricket Club in a super over. After winning the toss, Sharda Cricket Club chose to bat first and put on a formidable total of 138 runs on the board in stipulated 20 overs.
The main contributors with the bat were Vineet, Sunil and Anil scoring 37, 34 & 19 runs respectively. Batting second, Surinder Cricket Club started the chase with a positive note and were scoring well beyond the asking rate but it was disciplined bowling efforts by team Sharda Cricket Club. At one stage they were 43 for 4 in 6 overs but it was the brilliant efforts of Puneet & Vikas who kept the game alive.
Both put on a partnership of 66 runs before Vikas got out and the score on board was 109 for 5. The bowlers of Sharda Cricket Club came back with their clever ideas and restricted the batting side to 138 runs. The main contributors from bat were Puneet , Vikas & Dushyant with 44, 33 & 18 runs respectively.
From the bowling side it was Satish, Vineet & Sandeep who clinched 3, 3 & 2 wickets respectively. The match went into super over, Surinder Cricket Club scored 9 runs in super over which was chased down by Sharda Cricket Club. Provin Bhat was declared as player of the series for his all round performance and Vineet was adjudged as Player of the match for his scintillating performance.
The match was officiated by Sanjay, Bali & Surinder. P N Tickoo was chief guest on this occasion who applauded the efforts of the organising committee; ground staff for conducting such an incredible event. Later awards were distributed among winners and runner-ups.
