JAMMU, Apr 26: The activists of BJP held a demonstration in front of Relief Commissioner’s office here today in protest against the non inclusion of names of thousands of Kashmiri migrants in the voter lists despite filling up of M Forms by them in time.
The demonstration was led by BJP incharge Kashmir Chander Mohan Sharma, incharge Migrant Cell T N Bhat and Sheela Handoo, BJP Mahila Morcha National Executive Member. A large number of party activists of participated in the demonstration.
The demonstrators while raising slogans against the election authorities alleged that under a well hatched conspiracy the Coalition Government is depriving the displaced Pandits to exercise their democratic right. They said the migrants who have been deprived of all other rights have now been also deprived of this democratic right.
They demanded that the names of all migrants be included in voter lists and repolling be ordered on all 18 migrant booths for Anantnag Constituency by preparing fresh voter lists with names of all eligible voters in it.
The protesters accused the Election Commission of India for maintaining a stoic silence over the issue and alleged that for last 25 years in every election the KPs were deprived of this democratic right.
Another demonstration was held by NC Minority Cell and other social organizations in protest against the non inclusion of names of migrants in voter lists despite filling up M Forms.
M K Yogi working president NC Minority Cell alleged that the Relief Organization was wholly responsible for non inclusion of names of migrant voters in voter lists. He said 24,000 M Forms were filled by migrants for Anantnag Constituency and only 8774 were registered.
He demanded action against the defaulters failing which the protest will continue.
N C activists led by Soom Nath Dhar also held a meeting today in which strong concern was expressed over the missing of M Forms. The meeting said thousands of migrants could not cast their votes on April 24 for Anantnag LS seat as their names were not included in voter lists by authorities.
The meeting among others was attended by Raj Nath Fotedar, P L Talashi, Gopi Krishan, Karan Choudhary, Jagan Jee Goja, A K Raina, M L Labroo, Banner Jee, Bansi Lal and Ashok Koul.
